Recognizing God’s presence amid tradition, distraction, and the pressures of daily life
When God’s Presence Changes Everything
When the glory of the Lord is manifested, the atmosphere changes. Burdens lift, hearts are touched, and you experience healing and freedom. What once felt overwhelming will lose its hold as your attention shifts to the Almighty!
The King is in the room—but will we recognize Him?
I have experienced God’s presence during worship and quiet prayer. Yet believers can gather in the same place and respond very differently. Three common hindrances are religious tradition, carnality, and misplaced focus.
What Can Keep Us from Recognizing Him?

Religious Tradition
Familiar routines can replace genuine engagement with God. Jesus warned that tradition can make God’s Word ineffective in our lives (Mark 7:13). We must remain open to what the Lord is doing now rather than merely repeating what is familiar.
Carnality
A carnal mindset is governed by natural sight and feeling instead of faith. Scripture reminds us, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). When we focus only on what we see, hear, and feel naturally, we can miss what God is doing spiritually. Such as His manifested presence in the room.
Misplaced Focus
Responsibilities, disappointments, and worries can consume our attention. There is nothing wrong with bringing concerns to God, but they should not become greater in our minds than He is. Causing roadblocks to seeing with our spiritual eyes the realities of the movement of God. As we turn toward Him, our circumstances may not change immediately, but our perspective can.
Responding to the King
The Holy Spirit dwells within every born-again believer (1 Corinthians 3:16). God remains present, though we may fail to recognize Him. By cultivating fellowship with Him through worship, prayer, work, and daily life, we become more sensitive to His Spirit.
God invites us to draw near with sincere hearts. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Do not let familiarity, unbelief, or distraction keep you from responding to Him.
Recognize Him. Honor Him. Worship Him. Draw near to Him.

Final Thoughts
Jesus came to His own, yet many did not recognize or receive Him. Religious tradition, unbelief, and distraction prevented some from responding to what He offered.
The King is able to heal, deliver, strengthen the weary, and comfort the brokenhearted. Turn your attention toward Him. You may arrive carrying burdens, but you can leave encouraged by the hope and freedom found in His presence.
The King is here. Are you giving Him your attention?
